Here’s how I fight the fight against a creative block. I write and write and write until my brain engages. There’s just something about putting a pen to paper and just letting your thoughts flow. I try and challenge myself to keep the pen going so my brain can’t stop. Sooner or later a thought “magically” flows out of the pen that actually makes sense. Take this rant for example. Today, I don’t have a clue of what to write about. Just empty space in my noggin at the moment. Maybe people are sick and tired of listening to my spew by now anyways. Maybe I should just find a guest ranter. Maybe I should just put one word on the page and call it good. Maybe I should draw a picture. Or a cartoon. I haven’t done that in a while. Maybe I should leave the page blank and see what kind of response I get. Maybe I should take a photo of something and rant about that. Maybe I should just turn this into my rant for this month and make a point that there is no shortcut for great work. Keep grinding and grinding and grinding and grinding until the answer appears. You’ll know it when you see it.
